Mini Texas Getaway at The Frenchie Boutique Hotel
Tucked right in the middle of Houston and Austin, Texas, is a little town called Round Top. Known for hosting the biggest antiques show in the country, the triannual Round Top Antiques Show, it’s a cute place to slip away from the city lights.
Come with me for a 17 hours Mini Texas Getaway with The Frenchie Boutique Hotel!
I was invited by Acqua Panna natural spring water to stay at The Frenchie Boutique Hotel in celebration of Ferragosto, a national holiday in Italy, where Italians rest for the day or weeks and leave the city! Acqua Panna comes from Villa Panna in the hills of Tuscany. I have always enjoyed its crisp & refreshing taste. Richard and I don’t get many opportunities to spend a night away with just the two of us, so I was excited to relax together!
Once you turn onto Round Top Road from Highway 290, drive with caution, because I came across deer gingerly crossing the street! The Frenchie Boutique Hotel is in a great location - it’s walking distance to downtown Round Top. The hotel is comprised of a few buildings. The main house was once a farmhouse in the 1890’s that has been fully restored, a cottage, and an art studio with pool bungalows. We stayed in a pool bungalow with floor to ceiling windows with a direct view of the pool and quick access to the restaurant, pool, and hot tub.
Our room is beautifully designed! Loved the wallpapers and eclectic touches. Although we didn’t take a bath in our Japanese soaker tub, I will bring the bubbles for one next time!
The hotel’s restaurant is open from 8 a.m. - 10 p.m. every day. Brenna, our chef of the evening, does it all. A one-woman-show - she made our delicious cocktails and dinner all by herself! I ordered the Cucumber Water, and Richard got the Spicy Pineapple. Highly recommend both! You can order from their A La Carte or Dinner menu. You will just need to make a reservation for their Dinner menu, which I believe is a three course meal, so Chef Brenna can prepare for it. I ordered the Pesto Rigatoni with shrimp, and Richard ordered the Green Goddess salad with seared steak. The Acqua Panna is light and paired well with my pesto dish and panna dessert. I am so happy I got the Panna Cotta for dessert! Brenna topped the sweetened cream with almond cake that she toasted, a blueberry amaro compote, and slices of tiny fig! DIVINE.
We drove in after work, and we didn’t want to miss the pool and hot tub! Both were open until 10 p.m., so we went for a post-dinner dip with the blue supermoon beaming at us. It was big and bright that night. There weren’t any street lights, but we could see everything around us, when we walked through the property. We relaxed on our patio afterwards, admiring the moon and stars and basking in the quiet and calm.
The pillows and bedding were plush and soft. Another thing I loved about our room: a magnifying mirror with a sensor to turn on its light! It allowed for the most thorough floss for my teeth and cleanse for my face. haha I want to get one now. :)
The next morning before checking out at 11 a.m., I went for a swim. I liked that there were umbrellas at each wall of the pool, so I could stay in the shade in between my short laps. For breakfast, I got chia pudding made with coconut milk topped with a housemade berry jam & granola and a plate of fresh fruit with my chai tea and Acqua Panna water.
Truly a relaxing and beautiful 17 hours.
You will feel inspired by the vintage & colorful details of the hotel.
Thank you, Acqua Panna & The Frenchie Boutique Hotel, for this stay! I recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a place to stay solo or with your mom, sister, partner, or even a group of friends or cousins! You will have fun, and it will feel special!
